Scissor Hire
Scissor lifts are one of the most popular types of powered access equipment as they are a dynamic tool used by a wide range of industries. They are often seen on most commercial worksites as they offer access to restricted areas of a building or structure that would otherwise be hard to access.
What are scissor lifts used for?
Scissor lifts are mainly used to gain access to the side/top of buildings that are often hard or impossible to access with conventional methods. Some scenarios or worksites may not allow for ladders or scaffolding to be used which is where a scissor lift can come into play. Scissor hire can offer a relocatable solution to working at height which is an issue for a lot of projects.
Named after the crossed beams of the powered mechanism, scissor lifts are great for sites that need access to high areas in tight spaces. The overall size and footprint of your average scissor lift make them ideal for tight spots where traditional methods of working at height wouldn’t work.
Scissor lifts can be used both indoor and outdoor (depending on how they’re powered) making them ideal for most sites. You are also able to get a range of sizes with varying levels of vertical reach that you can find the best size for your current project.
Electric Scissor Lifts:
Electric scissor lifts make use of batteries and motors instead of hydraulics which makes them ideal for indoor use also. These lifts are often lower maintenance than hydraulic or diesel-powered scissor lifts as well as quieter. They are also smaller than your average scissor lift making them great for sites that are in semi-completed structures/buildings as they have features like softer tyres that won’t leave marks on polished/finished floors.
Rough Terrain Scissor Lifts:
Rough terrain scissor lifts are a type of powered lift that is often used by larger worksites that need height access in an outdoor environment. These are most commonly seen in worksites that require rooftop access to incomplete buildings as the larger tires and footprint gives the lift added stability. Rough Terrain Scissor Lifts make use of engines that are gas, diesel as the platform is usually larger and heavier.
